Beginner's Guide to Casting a Simple Protection Spell
Understanding Protection Magic
- Protection spells create a barrier against negative energies, not people—focus on intent, not harm.
- Beginners should start with white light visualization to charge personal boundaries before attempting a full spell.
- Timing matters: waning moon or Saturday (Saturn’s day) are ideal for banishment and protection work.
Gathering Your Supplies
- Black or white candle (black absorbs negativity, white purifies) and a fire-safe holder.
- Sea salt or black salt for grounding and warding—sprinkle in a circle around your workspace.
- Optional but helpful: a small piece of amethyst or black tourmaline to amplify the protective energy.
Cleansing & Preparing Your Space
- Smudge with sage, palo santo, or simply flick salted water in a clockwise direction to clear stale energy.
- Open a window if possible to let negativity exit; close it after casting to seal the protection.
- Set up a small altar or clear table—place your candle in the center, salt in front, and crystal on the left.
Casting the Protection Spell – Step by Step
- Light the candle and state your intention aloud: “I seal this space in light. Only love and safety may enter.”
- Sprinkle a pinch of salt in each cardinal direction (north, east, south, west) while visualizing a glowing bubble around you.
- Hold the crystal and repeat your intention three times; then place it at the exit of your room or carry it with you.
Closing the Ritual
- Thank the elements or your guides (if you work with them) and snuff the candle—never blow it out as it disperses energy.
- Dispose of any leftover salt or ashes outside your home (not in the trash) to release the spell’s work.
- Wash your hands with cool water to ground yourself after the ritual.
